GA Day Two

The General Assembly continues to move rapidly through the agenda.  We heard committee reports all day.  We finished the reports for the committees dealing with coordination, inter-church relations, chaplains, the historian, and a couple of special visitation situations.  In sum, the atmosphere was suffused with collegiality and love for the brethren.

This attitude persisted into the evening session as we heard the marvelous work of the diaconal committee.  The concurrent diaconal summit met with us for their report.  How good it was to see men dedicating themselves to taking their office and work of diaconal ministry seriously.  The committee also reported on their disaster relief efforts especially concerning the aftermath last year's tsunami in Japan.  It was uplifting to see the hard work of so many volunteers who gave of their time to tangibly demonstrate the love of Christ to a hurting community.

We ended the evening giving thanks to God for the labors of the general secretary for home missions, Ross Graham.  As he lays down this particular labor next year, we demonstrated our unity in giving thanks to God for the work He was pleased to do through Mr. Graham.  We ended appropriately by uniting our voices in singing the Doxology.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
